I got the BBB 7" too. Totally bad ass. I checked it out as I was leavin' and saw the vinyl's clear BLUE!!!!! Didn't even know that when I scored it.... measly 5$! Right on.

So, I met up with my friends this weekend and we got to talking about the Fu show last Wednesday and I had a blast all over again just thinking about it. I never posted the set list so he's my best guess...
Eatin' Dust, Laserbl'ast!, Bionic Astronautics, Hung Out, Boogie Van, California Crossin', Regal Begal, Signs, King of the Road, Webfoot, Pigeon Toe, El Busta, Falcon, Evil Eye, Hell on Wheels, and encored with Saturn III.

I wish I could've stayed to meet the band, but I had been up for 20 hours by then and I had to be up early Thursday morning and still had a 90 minute drive home ahead of me. But man, that show was a blast. I gotta talk about this one thing that happened. Now the crowd was a good size, maybe not too big, and the club was intimate enough that yelling out requests just happens. But there was a point in the show where I thought a guy might lose his life. Someone in the back thought it'd be funny to yell out "play lynyrd skynyrd!" or some stupid shit like that and Scott H. had a reply that silenced the room - told the crowd something like "Show's over... I'm not kidding." and I thought that everyone in the place wanted to knee cap the guy that was being an idiot. I heard someone behind me tell him "don't ruin it man." and then someone yelled out a better request and the show was on again. But man, what a moment. It seemed so serious at the time, but looking back I gotta laugh.

Kudos to Scott for calling him out. That's just disrespectful, plain and simple. You got a band like Fu (as if there were any others that came close) who probably plan there tours around where they know their fans are and who are cool enough to take requests at the shows... the fans want to hear Fu songs! Not some damned old classic rock tunes. So, I take it "that guy" was drunk or just being stupid.

And the show went on after that as if nothing had happened. The old saying "one monkey don't stop no show!" comes to mind. I had a blast. My ears were ringing for 2 days, but I had a blast! The guys were all sounding great, the set list ruled, and I'll never forget that show.

Hats off to Hawk v. Dove, Maleveller, and Mitra too. I got to meet Brian of Maleveller who told me they were recording a CD that'll be out soon. And for those that don't know Mitra ("Meetra") is the new home of the drummer and guitar player from Speedealer, so check them out.
